ESBB is a great way to connect with old friends, make new ones, support local charities….. and have some fun! There are no age or geographic requirements. All are welcome.
ESBB supports Society For The Blind, American Cancer Society, local businesses and those in need within our community.
Pay It Forward – How It All Got StartedIt all began several years ago with a small group of longtime East Sac friends meeting up once a month for lunch. They would gather at various local haunts to enjoy each other’s company and share a bit of what’s going on in their busy lives. As the months rolled by their conversations increasingly shifted toward deeper subjects. One member of the group may have recently attended a benefit event or another offered services to a charitable organization.
Eventually their conversations addressed the possibility of creating their own charitable organization, one that would utilize the experiences, skills and resources that each member could bring to the table. They decided to give it a try and the concept of East Sac Baby Boomers was born. In July of 2015 the East Sac Baby Boomers (ESBB) incorporated, becoming a California 501(c)(3) Public Benefit Corporation ready to take its first step toward a mission goal of helping charities and individuals on a local level.
To introduce itself to the community and to inform the public of its mission, ESBB created EastSacBabyBoomers.org. It also created a Facebook presence. The response was immediate and encouraging. ESBB offered membership in the organization and within days recruited over 100 members. ESBB Facebook pages were shared as FB friends posted old photos, images of memorabilia and waxed nostalgic.
After vetting numerous charitable organizations, ESBB partnered with the American Cancer Society (ACS), Road to Recovery Program. 2016 & 2017 all ESBB events were focused on raising funds for ACS.
In 2018 ESBB was excited to announce a partnering with a second beneficiary: Sacramento’s Society for the Blind. For 65 years in Sacramento their mission has remained the same: “To empower individuals living with low vision or blindness to discover, develop and achieve their full potential.”
All of 2019 & 2020 ESBB events will focus on fundraising for these 2 admirable and necessary organizations which benefit our community. Please join us in our heartfelt purpose to fund raise, contribute and share good times together.
